Directly near the historic inner harbour

Located on the shore of the Gouwzee, Waterland has 2 guest rooms and 2 apartments for rent. Modern and conveniently furnished you can enjoy the maritime view here. There are several chairs available to sit outside. In the evening you can see the sun set behind the Speeltoren from the terrace.

Our guests choose our accommodation as a base for Amsterdam or to discover our region. When the group is larger than four adults, we can combine rooms. When the two rooms (Bakboord & Stuurboord) and Kajuit are booked at the same time, the accommodation (maximum 9 adults) is completely yours.

All accommodations have beds made upon arrival and plenty of towels. We provide clean bed linen for longer stays in consultation. Extra towels are in the kitchenette. There is coffee, tea, sugar & milk and some sweets.

Slapen op de Haven is within walking distance of the historic city center of Monnickendam and the bus stop to Amsterdam. The car is safe in our parking lot, and your bicycle can be parked in the bicycle shed. You can rent bicycles and sailing boats at the harbour. Or the sloop can be right outside the door! Welcome at Waterland and ‘Slapen op de Haven’!

Discover Monnickendam and its surroundings

Monnickendam is an historic Zuiderzee town. Known for its smoked eel and mackerel in the past and now mainly known for its restaurants and Hakvoort shipyard. You can walk from the accommodation to the old center in 3 minutes, where you can take a lovely walk over the grachten and old city wall (vesting).

Our tip for cycling: go to Marken, which is 8 km from here. Walk around the island and take the boat (Marken Expres) to Volendam. From there you can return to Monnickendam via the IJsselmeerdijk, or you can first visit Edam before coming back to us.

You can rent “old-fashioned” bicycles for a day at the harbour office. Do you need a bicycle for longer or do you like to cycle on an electric bike? Book these at Rent & Event in Volendam, they will deliver them to us.
