About Waterland

In 1985 Waterland Yacht Charter was founded. It started with the charter of Jan and Trees Zetzema’s own boat, the Hinde. The fleet grew steadily and had Monnickendam as its base.

In 2002 Jachthaven Waterlandwas established by purchasing Jachthaven Van Goor. The harbour turned into a nautical service center with a sailmaker, yacht service, crane work, engine maintenance and a restaurant. Bas, Marijke and David are the employees from the very beginning.

Slapen op de Haven was created in 2014 – there was a demand for short stay accommodation. On location Galgeriet are two apartments and two rooms in nautical style with a view of the old harbour.

Daughter Nienke joined the company in 2015. Waterland Yacht Service was founded not long after: there was a great demand for yacht service among our berth holders. René and Daan were the first employees to join Yacht Service.

Due to the Galgeriet project, the company will move to the Hemmeland location in a number of years. Since 2019, Kees Wiersema and Nienke have been working together on the development of the new port, which started with the acquisition of Jachthaven Hemmeland in January 2019. Jachthaven Waterland has since had two locations: Waterland and Hemmeland.

In the autumn of 2023, Waterland Yacht Service will add a new location: Strandbad 2 in Volendam. Here she provides winter storage and yacht service for customers of (Marina) Volendam. Yacht Service will be available at two locations from spring 2024.

From 2024 we will change the course of our charter: the yachts sailed too little in recent seasons. We still have our cabin sailing yachts for rent until the summer of 2024, after which we will only have the day boats (Fox 22 and J/80). We want to focus on our harbour in Monnickendam and the growth of our yacht service in Monnickendam and Volendam. In addition, after five years of waiting, we can finally merge our two harbour locations (Hemmeland and Waterland) in the coming years.

From 1 January 2025 we will start in Uitdam. Here we will breathe new life into Jachthaven Uitdam. With improvements to the harbour, quays and jetties, we will soon be ready for a beautiful new season. As a visitor you can come by boat and stay one night or more (or choose a permanent mooring) and enjoy the facilities of Europarcs Poort van Amsterdam such as the playgrounds, the beach, restaurant, indoor swimming pool and much more. If you are already a berth holder in Uitdam (or in Monnickendam at Waterland) you can simply moor for a while in the other harbour to experience the atmosphere – without extra costs. We offer yacht service in Volendam and Monnickendam.
